 | Schiermonnikoog is the most northerly of the inhabited Dutch Wadden Sea islands. Its eastern point is perhaps the only pristine nature area remaining in the Netherlands. Here, wind and water sculpt an ever-changing landscape. Cars are prohibited on the island making this a paradise for cyclists and walkers as well as birdwatchers, particularly in the migratory season during spring and autumn.
